• Within each group of learners, there is wide variation in the
number of hours to get to a specific level, e.g., Group 1 fast learners take a
little over 1000 hours to get to just above level 3.5; it takes the slower learners in this group over
3000 hours to reach the same point
• However, for each group,
the same level is achieved with more hours of learning time
• Note that all of these
learning times are much longer than typically occurring in a university
language class
• Perhaps the approach taken varies
with the amount of time on hand
